Rivo Financial Intelligence
Terms & Conditions
Effective May 2026 · Last Updated May 2026
When you create an account, tap to accept, or simply continue using the Platform, you confirm that you have read these Terms, understood them, and agreed to be bound by them.
1. Welcome to Rivo
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you," "your," or "User") and Rivo Financial Intelligence ("Rivo," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the Rivo mobile application, website, and all connected features (together, the "Platform" or "Service").
Read these Terms together with our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. When you create an account, tap to accept, or simply continue using the Platform, you confirm that you have read these Terms, understood them, and agreed to be bound by them. If any part of these Terms does not work for you, please do not use the Service.
We may introduce additional terms for specific features (for example, premium subscriptions or borrowing tools). Where those supplementary terms apply, they sit alongside these Terms, and in case of a direct conflict, the feature-specific terms take precedence for that feature only.
2. How We Define Things
To keep things clear, a few terms carry specific meanings throughout this document:
- "Account" — the personal profile you create to access Rivo.
- "Financial Data" — transaction records, balances, spending patterns, and related information drawn from your connected bank accounts, SMS messages, and email.
- "Connected Sources" — the bank accounts, SMS inbox, and Gmail account you choose to link to Rivo.
- "Lending Partners" — regulated financial institutions and NBFCs that may offer credit products through Rivo when you opt in.
- "Services" — spending intelligence, savings optimization, borrowing guidance, wealth planning tools, calculators, and any other features Rivo makes available.
3. Who Can Use Rivo
Rivo is built for individuals in India who are managing their personal finances. To open an account, you confirm that you:
- Are at least 18 years of age, the minimum age to access credit-related services in India;
- Are legally capable of entering into a binding contract under Indian law;
- Are creating the account for your own personal, non-commercial use;
- Are not barred from using the Service under any applicable law or regulation.
If you let someone else use your account, you remain responsible for everything that happens through it. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to register. If you believe a minor is using Rivo, please write to us at cp@rivo.pe so we can act on it.
4. Setting Up and Securing Your Account
Registration is straightforward: you provide your mobile number or email, verify it with a one-time password, and complete your profile. You agree to give us information that is accurate, current, and genuinely yours, and to keep it up to date. We may ask for additional details or documents from time to time to verify your identity or comply with regulations, and we may decline or suspend registration if the information you provide turns out to be incomplete, inconsistent, or unverifiable.
Your login credentials are yours to protect. You are responsible for everything done through your account, so keep your password and device secure and do not share access with anyone. If you notice any unauthorized activity, tell us immediately at cp@rivo.pe with "Account Security" in the subject line so we can help. We are not liable for losses arising from credentials you failed to safeguard, except where a loss results directly from our own willful misconduct.
You may hold only one Rivo account at a time unless we agree otherwise.
5. What Rivo Does — and What It Doesn't Promise
Rivo helps you understand your money. We analyze your spending, surface savings opportunities, assess your eligibility for borrowing, and give you tools to plan ahead. To do this well, we rely on the accuracy of the data flowing in from your Connected Sources.
It's important to be honest about the limits of what we offer:
- We provide guidance, not guarantees. Our savings suggestions, credit assessments, and financial insights are based on the data available to us and our best analytical efforts. We do not promise that your credit score will rise, that a lender will approve you, or that any particular financial outcome will follow from using Rivo.
- The decisions remain yours. Any recommendation we make is for your consideration only. You are free to act on it or ignore it, and you are responsible for the choices you make with your own money.
- Our insights depend on third parties. If the SMS alerts from your bank, the receipts in your email, or the data returned by our aggregator partners (such as Plaid or Setu) are delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate, the quality of our analysis may be affected through no fault of our own.
Rivo is not a registered investment advisor unless and until expressly stated, and nothing in the Service should be treated as personalized legal, tax, or investment advice.
6. Permission to Access Your Connected Sources
Several of Rivo's most useful features depend on data you choose to share. By enabling the relevant permissions, you authorize Rivo to access and process the following:
6.1 Bank & Account Data
Through licensed financial data aggregators, you allow us to retrieve your transaction history, balances, and account details. We never see or store your banking passwords.
6.2 SMS Data
When you turn on SMS access, you authorize Rivo to read transaction-related messages on your device and send them to our secure servers, where they are stored with strong encryption and used to identify merchants, amounts, and dates for your expense tracking. This data is processed only to power your financial insights.
6.3 Gmail Data
When you connect Gmail through Google's secure authorization flow, you allow Rivo to read relevant emails — such as invoices, receipts, and subscription notices — and extract the structured details we need. We never receive your Google password, and we do not retain the full contents of your emails.
Each of these permissions is optional and granted separately. You can withdraw any of them at any time through your device or app settings. Withdrawing a permission stops future collection from that source, though data already collected remains subject to our retention schedule described below. Granting these permissions is never a condition for using Rivo's basic features.
7. Subscriptions, Plans, and Payments
Rivo offers a free tier alongside paid plans that unlock additional capabilities. When you subscribe to a paid plan, you agree to the applicable fees, billing cycle, and renewal terms presented to you at the point of purchase.
- Subscription fees are charged in advance for the chosen billing period.
- Plans renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date through your account settings or app store.
- Refunds, where offered, follow our separate Refund and Cancellation Policy.
- We may revise pricing with reasonable advance notice; changes never apply retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
Payments are handled by third-party payment processors, and your use of those services is also governed by their terms.
8. Sharing Data with Lending Partners
If — and only if — you opt in to borrowing guidance, Rivo may share certain information with Lending Partners to help match you with suitable credit products. What we share is limited and purposeful:
- Extracted transaction details (merchant, amount, date) rather than raw SMS or email content;
- Relevant credit and eligibility information drawn from your profile;
- Employment and income details where you have provided them.
Our current Lending Partners include institutions such as mPokket, InCred Financial Services, Branch International, and Fibe, among others. The full and current list is available in the app under Settings, and may change over time. Each partner operates under its own privacy policy and terms, and once data reaches them, their handling of it is governed by their policies rather than ours. You can stop all partner sharing simply by opting out of borrowing guidance.
9. How You Agree to Use Rivo
Using Rivo comes with a few reasonable expectations. You agree that you will not:
- Provide false, misleading, or impersonated information;
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, copy, or tamper with the Platform or its underlying code;
- Introduce viruses, malware, or anything designed to disrupt the Service or other users;
- Interfere with other users' enjoyment of the Platform or misuse it to defraud anyone;
- Copy, redistribute, or commercially exploit Rivo's content without our written permission.
We may suspend or close your account if we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms or put the Service or other users at risk.
10. Communications and Marketing
By signing up, you agree that we may contact you about your account, security matters, and important updates — these service messages are part of using Rivo and cannot be switched off while your account is active.
We may also send you offers, product news, and promotional content over SMS, WhatsApp, email, or in-app notifications. You can opt out of these marketing communications at any time through your app settings or by following the unsubscribe instructions in the message (for example, replying STOP to a text). Opting out of marketing does not affect essential service communications.
11. Intellectual Property
Everything that makes up Rivo — the app, the website, our designs, logos, text, graphics, and the software behind it all — belongs to Rivo or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. That right does not include permission to reproduce, modify, distribute, or build upon our content. Any content you submit (such as feedback) may be used by us to improve the Service, while ownership of your own personal data stays with you as described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Limitation of Liability
Rivo aims to be reliable and useful, but we provide the Service "as is" and cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or lost data;
- We are not responsible for losses arising from inaccurate or delayed data from your bank, SMS provider, email, or aggregator partners;
- We are not liable for the actions of third parties, including Lending Partners, with whom you choose to share your information;
- Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Your Responsibility to Us
You agree to cover Rivo's reasonable losses, claims, and costs that arise directly from:
- Inaccurate or false information you provide to us;
- Unauthorized account access resulting from your failure to keep your credentials safe;
- Your misuse of the Service or breach of these Terms.
This responsibility is limited to matters within your control — it does not extend to issues caused by our own conduct or system failures.
14. Suspension and Termination
You can close your account at any time through the app. Closing your account stops ongoing data collection, though we may retain certain information as required by law or our retention schedule.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if continuing to provide the Service would create undue risk. Where practical, we will give you notice and a chance to address the issue first. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — such as limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law — will continue to apply.
15. Data Retention at a Glance
We keep your information only as long as we need it to serve you and meet our legal obligations. In summary:
| Data Type | How Long We Keep It | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Account lifetime + 3 years | Service continuity, fraud prevention |
| Bank transaction data | Up to 7 years | RBI and anti-money-laundering compliance |
| SMS data | Up to 24 months | Expense analysis and account recovery |
| Gmail extracted data | Up to 24 months | Expense categorization |
| Usage analytics | Up to 2 years | Improving the Service |
| Security and audit logs | Up to 1 year | Breach investigation |
A fuller explanation lives in our Privacy Policy. Deletion requests are honored in line with these timelines and any overriding legal hold.
16. Privacy and Data Protection Compliance
Rivo handles your personal data as a Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000, and applicable RBI guidelines. Your consent to our data processing is something you give freely and specifically, with full information, and you can withdraw it at any time without affecting any lawful processing that took place beforehand. All personal data is stored within India. The complete picture of how we collect, use, protect, and share your information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
17. Changes to These Terms
As Rivo grows and regulations evolve, we may update these Terms. When we make material changes, we will let you know through email or a clear notice in the app, and we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top. Continuing to use Rivo after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. We encourage you to glance over this page now and then so nothing catches you by surprise.
18. Governing Law and Resolving Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
If something goes wrong, we would much rather sort it out directly than in a courtroom. So we ask that you first raise any concern with our Grievance Officer, who will work to resolve it within 30 days. If the matter remains unresolved, the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service.
For grievances specifically relating to data protection, you may, after exhausting our internal process, escalate to the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
